Mombasa Excursion

The historic port city of Mombasa serves as a gateway to many inland African countries such as Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Ethiopia, and more. It also provides a deep insight into the history of the slavery era.

Our tour starts from your accommodation: pick-up from the South Coast is around 7:00 AM, and from the North Coast around 8:00 AM.

Upon arrival in Mombasa, we first visit the famous Fort Jesus, originally built by the Portuguese and later maintained by Arabs in cooperation with the British on a rocky hill. This fort was historically used to hold slaves before they were transported to Zanzibar.

After visiting the fort, we drive to Mombasa's oldest market, known for its variety of spices used both in cooking and as natural remedies. Next, we visit the city’s landmark, the Elephant Tusks. Our following stop is a woodcarving village where all sculptures are handmade using traditional tools.

The tour concludes with lunch, followed by a visit to Haller Park, where we can see various animals including giraffes, turtles, crocodiles, hippos, and numerous bird species.
